For the past 2 years, this has been the view from our backyard. We have shared it with gators, manatees, a bear, otters, coons, and a plethora of birds-of-prey.
I started working on my parent's lake house to make it easier for them to enjoy. Built in 1984, it did need some work. The steps from the house to the garage were first to be replaced. Then, a side door needed a deck and ramp to make going to the fishing pier safe. The back deck was falling apart so I replaced that. My latest project, the front door entrance, is now being finished up. Each of these projects were more complex and artistic than the last. Maybe I should have been a carpenter!
In my spare time, I set up my laser in the garage and made some cool shit. Started airbrushing again with some success. Through it all, I still find myself searching for a goal. We have moved a lot in 30 years, making it very hard to plan ahead.
Now, things are a-changing again. Plans were, when my parents needed help full time, they were going to move into the Retreat with us. Their homestead is 70 miles away from here, but minutes away from everything. Doctors, hospitals, friends, shopping, and civilization. As much as I loved it here, their well-being is what matters the most. We will be moving there soon.
I am in the process of getting the Retreat ready for sale. Still have some finishing touches on the front entrance that now include a new door. The interior is also getting a little refreshing.
A couple of months ago, I packed up all my toys to eliminate distractions. I have accepted the fact that it will be an extended period of time before I will get to reboot my quest. In the meanwhile, I will dust off this nasty laptop and work more on the site. The first year, I was encouraged by the hundreds of visitors I had. This year, I want to thank all ten of ya'll. Seriously, I will work on it!
Thanks,
Dave
